Welcome to the Ever After blog. We hope to provide you with up to date info and video clips from Ever After Videos as well as a window into the lives of Niels and Sylvia.
Found on Ebay
Back in August 2006, Gemma and Christopher got married in the Lake District. A few months after their wedding, Gemma decided to sell her petticoat on Ebay. To make her listing a bit more attractive, Gemma put in a link to her wedding highlights clip. This grabbed the attention of Kelly, who promptly bought the petticoat. This wasn’t the only thing though Gemma managed to sell that day, she also sold the idea of getting a wedding video, more specifically, our wedding videos.
The 24th of August was Kelly and Stafford big day. They spent the whole day and most of the evening before the wedding decorating the hall and putting up the bouncy castles. Those bouncy castles, courtesy of Kelly & Stafford’s own company Shootinstar Party Hire, proved to be an excellent source of fun for the little ones and even for the not so little ones. The music of the highlights is the ever popular True Companion by Mark Cohn… I wonder where they got the idea for that one

Caroline & Mike’s Wedding Day
Caroline and Mike celebrated their 11th anniversary of being together yesterday. To mark the occassion in style they decided to do so by getting married at Adlington Hall. We absolutely love this couple, they are so much fun and we get on with them like a house on fire.
We had a great time. On our recommendation they also booked our favourite photographer, Rob, who is a joy to work with. We also felt very privileged to have Alex Hill (from Elysium Productions in California) joining us to film with us.
All in all, pretty much a perfect day!

Autumn Colours
Autumn is without doubt my favourite season and one of the things I love most about it are the colours. A few years ago, we were in New England at the end of October, I just kept being amazed by how lovely all the trees looked, really picture perfect. Then again, around here in Yorkshire and the Peak District, we can’t really complain!
Last November we filmed Nicola & Jason’s wedding on a most beautiful autumn day. They had their ceremony at Barlborough church and the reception at Ringwood Hall Hotel in Chesterfield. I just wanted to share the photo shoot part of the wedding to show off the gorgeous autumn colours off their day.

Most impressive first dance at Allerton Castle
This has to be the most amazing first dance we’ve ever witnessed. Claire & Brian took some dance lessons specially for their wedding at Allerton Castle and the result brought the house down, they were even asked for a repeat performance. I just had to share this with you and hope it might give you some inspiration.

A few tips for brides
I thought I’d share a few tips with you that might come in handy on your wedding day.
1. Keep some lip gloss nearby at all times during the reception. A bridesmaid or your new husband will gladly carry it for you.
2. Don’t wear socks when you’re getting ready. When filming you putting your shoes on, it’s not nice to see marks. Same thing applies to wearing bras, don’t wear one if you have a strapless dress, it can take ages before strap marks disappear.
3. Cut the straps to hang your dress on a hanger out of your dress before you put it on. These straps have a tendency to creep up and don’t look great in photographs or on film.
4. Buy some foot spray and make sure someone takes it along for you on your wedding day. You’ll be standing a lot in those pretty wedding shoes and your feet will get tired. They will, however, feel much better after you’ve applied some foot spray.
5. As absurd as it may sound: get some safety pins! They come in handy more often than you’d think. But don’t worry, we buy a supply of safety pins every year to hand out at weddings in case you’d forget or can’t find them.

Happy Easter from Ever After
Niels and I would like to wish you all a very happy Easter and as we can’t share any delicious Easter eggs with you, we thought we’d share yesterday’s Wedding Day Edit with you.
Clare & Richard’s wedding was at Leigh Court near Bristol. Clare organised the whole wedding and made so many of the little details herself, from the most original invitations (I’ll have to show you a picture of those one of these days) to the favours. We all had a fabulous day.

Charlotte & Dudley
Saturday 21 July 2007. That was the day that many parts of the UK, mainly around Gloucestershire, Worchestershire and Warwickshire, were flooded. People were advised not to travel around these areas. This was also the day of Charlotte and Dudley’s wedding at Studley Castle in Warwickshire.
The night before the wedding, the groom and many of the guest were evacuated from their hotel due to the floods. They barely made it to Studley Castle to spend the night there. On the morning of the wedding, the rain was still pouring down, the church was hardly reachable, the road looked more like a small lake. We arrived at the castle to film Charlotte getting ready while her father and all the ushers were frantically trying to arrange new accommodations for many of their guests. This was going to be an interesting day…
But the rain stopped about half an hour before the ceremony and it stayed dry all day, they managed to have the drinks reception outdoors and the rain didn’t come back until after the fireworks late in the evening. All turned out well and Charlotte and Dudley had the most wonderful day.

Birthday Boy!
We celebrated Niels’ birthday this weekend. We had a meeting with clients down in Kent on Saturday and decided to combine this with a day off for Niels’ birthday. We visited Leeds Castle on Saturday afternoon, unfortunately the weather wasn’t that great. The good thing is that an entry ticket to Leeds Castle is valid for one year and as we’ve got a few weddings in that area this year, we’ll hopefully be able to visit when the weather is a bit nicer. But even in bad weather, this place won’t fail to impress you!
Leeds Castle
On Sunday, his birthday, we drove back up to Sheffield and visited Burghley House in Stamford along the way. This time the weather was perfect. The house itself wasn’t open to visit yet, but we spent the whole afternoon walking in the gardens of house and enjoying the scenery. Definitely worth another visit too!
