Claire and Paul’s Same Day Edit at Allerton Castle
OK, I admit it, I’m knackered. Yesterday, we filmed the last wedding of the summer season, complete with Same Day Edit. Today is the first day off our time off, well kind of… supposedly…
But I couldn’t possibly leave you for a while without putting that Same Day Edit on the blog. So let me quickly tell about Claire and Paul. Claire and Paul are a wonderful couple fromYorkshire who tied the knot yesterday at Allerton Castle in North Yorkshire (that’s one of our favourite venues here up north). It was a beautiful day, although at times somewhat on the chilly side. The wedding video was very important to them, they are part time videographers themselves, so decided that for their wedding, only the best would do. Well, that’s us!
We showed their Same Day Edit just before the first dance and they loved it (as did all the guests), so mission accomplished. Thanks to Jon from Exclusive Entertainments everyone was gathered around the screen to enjoy it. By now, Claire and Paul should be on their way, half way around the world, for a fabulous 3 week holiday in Australia. But for everybody else, here it is, Claire and Paul’s Same Day Edit!
As I mentioned above, we’re taking a little bit of time off. So if you are trying to reach us and don’t get a reply straight away, please don’t worry! We will get back to you as soon as we can (if you need to reach us, it’s best to email us). We’ll back in the office on 23 September.
Jane & Richard’s Wedding Trailer
Jane and Richard’s wedding took place on a beautiful summer’s day back in July at St Augustine’s Priory near Ashford in Kent. The wedding was lovingly themed in a vintage style, with birdcages, shades of pink, plenty of flowers and Jane’s dress was positively dreamy. The fabulous string quartet Stringendo played during the ceremony and reception (they have some really great arrangements, really enjoyed their music) and a witty French magician provided some light entertainment, while a guitar player set the right mood during the wedding breakfast. Then in the evening, they danced the night away to the music of the band Coast and the guests were all given Chinese wishing lanterns which looked enchanting as they floated away in the night’s sky. And all the while we had a great time working together with their photographer, Nikos (you can see Jane and Richard’s photos here) and their toastmaster Graham Beacom.
The newlyweds then took off for a very relaxing honeymoon in the Maldives, having seen their photographs, it looked AMAZING!
Anyway, without further ado, here is the trailer to their wedding film.
In a few days time, we will be taking a few weeks off. First of all to relax a bit after a busy summer of filming plenty of weddings, but also to go to the biggest videographer’s convention in the world in Orlando. We’re very much looking forward to learning plenty of new things and meeting up with some old friends. But don’t worry, we’ll keep you up to date on the blog and through Twitter!
Jodie and Ben’s Same Day Edit at Hazlewood Castle, North Yorkshire
Yesterday we were at Hazlewood Castle up in North Yorkshire to film the wedding of Jodie and Ben. Beautiful venue, gorgeous bride, handsome groom, very friendly vicar, fantastic fireworks, plenty of fun working together with Dave from 1Click Photography and pretty much perfect weather. What more can we ask for? In the evening, just before the Jodie and Ben’s first dance as husband and wife, we screened their Same Day Edit, as ever, it was a big hit. As promised, it’s online the next day!
Ever After is up for another award!
Ever After has again been shortlisted for an IoV Award for Best Wedding Day Film! Kelly and Wayne’s Fairytale Wedding Film is the one who made into the short list. Their wedding was shot at Allerton Castle. Last year, we won the Award for Best Wedding Day Film with a wedding film shot at the same location… Is this a good sign? Let’s hope so! The results will be announced on 14 October.
Now on a totally different note… It’s the middle of summer (not that you’d always be able to tell by the rather abysmal weather we’ve been having here in Sheffield lately). Yet go into a large department store, greeting card shop or just about any hotel with a function suite, and you are reminded that there are only a 136 days left until Christmas. Whoop dee doo… So I’m wondering if it would be too much of a crime to join in for a moment by sharing a clip of wedding we filmed around Christmas time last year??? I think I’ll take risk.
I’ve shared a trailer to this particular wedding a few months ago, it’s Alison and Leigh’s wedding. This time I’d like to share the highlights as they are a bit different. Rather than using a pop or rock song or a movie soundtrack as usual, these highlights are set to a piece proper classical music, Vaughan Williams’ Theme by Thomas Tallis. As Alison is a classically trained musician and music it teacher it made perfect sense to use this music. It did provide me with a few challenges but I think it worked out nicely.

Ken and Laura’s wedding trailer, filmed at Highclere Castle
Just over a month ago we filmed Laura and Ken’s wedding at Highclere Castle in Hampshire. It was a beautiful spring day, actually felt more like a summer’s day already. Laura wore a dreamy wedding dress adorned with lots a lace, a string quartet, soprano singer and trumpet player made the ceremony unforgettable, while the band in the evening provided the perfect atmosphere for a real good party. Last week I was frantically working on the trailer to their wedding video. It was supposed to be online on Thursday, but time was against us. We had to get ready for that weekend’s shoots and meetings with clients, so we didn’t quite make it. So after meeting clients on Thursday, shooting an absolutely beautiful wedding at Highclere Castle again on Friday, then an utterly fun wedding on Saturday at St Augustine’s Priory near Ashford in Kent, followed by a long drive home on Sunday and a recovery/”sort out the paperwork-day” on Monday, here we finally are on Tuesday, ready to share that trailer with you. So Ken and Laura, without further ado, here it is!
Having now filmed two weddings at Highclere Castle within a few weeks of each other, I can honestly say it must be one of the most wonderful venues in the country. Not only does it look incredibly amazing, the service there is second to none. Michelle, the wedding coordinator, along with Fernanda and Luis and the rest of the team run the place like clockwork, every little minute detail is taken care of, from making sure all the food goes out looking perfect and identical to the seat covers being put on just right to the millimetre. We can’t wait to film another wedding there!
Once upon a time at Allerton Castle
Once upon a time there was a couple from Cambridgeshire who were madly in love and decided to get married. They dreamed of a perfect fairytale wedding and after months of planning, when the day finally dawned, everything was set in motion to ensure that dream would come true. Our princess for the day, Kelly, looked as if she came straight out of a storybook as she walked down the aisle to Wayne, her knight in shining armour (well, make that knight in ‘dashing suit’). She was escorted, not by some evil stepsisters, but by glamorous bridesmaids and 2 little enchanting fairy princesses. No fairytale would be complete without a proper castle and for Kelly and Wayne, Allerton Castle in North Yorkshire provided just the right setting. A horse and carriage whisked the newlyweds away after the ceremony for a romantic stroll in the castle’s grounds while the guests were being entertained by a string quartet. Andy Sutcliffe was the photographer on hand to capture that day for eternity. That day, even the weather gods smiled on Kelly and Wayne, nothing would spoil there dream. The starry night evening, a loving waltz and fireworks were the perfect ending to this magical day. Yes, Kelly and Wayne had always dreamed of a fairytale wedding and that is exactly what they got, happily ever after began that day. You see sometimes, dreams and wishes do come true. Don’t believe me, watch the following clip!
As ever, if you liked this clip, we’d love to hear from you, so please leave us a comment!
Cathy & Craig at Avington Park, Hampshire
A month without a blog entry! Ouch!!! Well, let’s just get started again with a trailer to wet your appetite for the summer season.
Let me present to you, Cathy and Craig, who got hitched on 2 May this year at Chandlers Ford Methodist Church, with a reception afterwards at the beautiful Avington Park near Winchester, Hampshire. The day felt like an ideal summer’s day, nice warm sunny weather which complemented Cathy and Craig’s vibrant colour scheme perfectly.
Cathy and Craig are quite the adventurous couple, who love to travel. Craig, better know as Trigga, even proposed under water on a scuba diving trip. Their fun loving spirit was apparent throughout the wedding day: from an extract of a Winnie the Pooh story as a reading during the service and waltzing down the aisle together at the end of the service to a photo session in the reeds by the water at Avington Park and a first dance involving more lifts then we’ve ever seen in one dance! All in all, a really fun day. For their honeymoon, they went to Bhutan, supposedly one of the happiest countries in the world, seems like just the right choice for this couple.
We also had a very enjoyable day working their photographer, David Pullum. You can see some of the fantastic photos he took that day on his blog.
So here it is, the trailer to their wedding video. I hope you will enjoy it, if you do please leave us a comment.
Ching Mei and Farid at the Manchester Registry Office & Yang Sing Restaurant
Back in September we filmed one of my most memorable weddings of the year, the wedding of Ching Mei and Farid. The weather had been quite horrible the day before the wedding and the forecast wasn’t very promising, but it all cleared up and it turned out to be a beautiful day (this goes somewhat against our previous experiences in Manchester!). The wedding ceremony took place at the Manchester Registry Office, which isn’t exactly the most inspiring building we’ve ever been to, but that didn’t matter in the slightest, this wedding was all about the people. Farid and Ching Mei are without a doubt one of the sweetest couples we’ve ever come across in all the years that we’ve been filming weddings. After the short ceremony, we all walked to the centre of Manchester for a photo session at the gorgeous Victorian town hall. Ching Mei looked stunning, wearing a dress by Pronovias, I always love their designs! Her bridesmaids wore lovely grey fifties inspired dresses. After the photo shoot we then walked on to the China Town area of Manchester, to one of the best Chinese restaurants, the Yang Sing.
During the drinks reception, Ching Mei and Farid provided entertainment for their guests in the form of a caricaturist and a magician. Ching Mei then swapped her Pronovias dress for a traditional Chinese dress. And after some short but sweet speeches, the 9 course Chinese banquet was served. I have two words for that banquet: wow and yummy!!! Thank you for letting us join in, it was amazing. After dinner Ching Mei had another wardrobe change, this time to a striking long silver evening gown, perfect for dancing the night away. Three wedding dresses… dreaming away now… Anyway, here are their highlights!

The wedding video of Emma and Ben at the Moat House Hotel, Staffordshire
In the past few videos I’ve been trying to prove that the summer of 2008 had some gloriously beautiful sunny days. Unfortunately, September 5th wasn’t one of them. It poured all day long, not a glimmer of sunshine to be spotted. But this wasn’t going to ruin Emma and Ben’s wedding day! Their wedding was at the Moat House Hotel in Staffordshire, a 14th century manor house, now lovely family run hotel. Emma’s wedding dress was just beautiful and the way it sparkled in the evening made it magical. Emma and Ben also had some ice sculptures made which were quite the focal point on the day.
Here are their highlights! If you’d like to order your own copy of their DVD, please proceed here and use the password you’ve been given by Emma and Ben.
On a side note, Ever After has been offering training to other videographers since last October. Things have been progressing well, and last month we had our first big 2 day training workshop here in Sheffield. We now have a brand new website for the training side of Ever After, along with a flashy new trailer promoting our 2 day workshops. We’d also like to take this opportunity to announce our next big training weekend, which will be on 27 and 28 June, again in the Sheffield area.
Catherine and Chris’ Same Day Edit at Crathorne Hall
Friday, 20 March 2009, can only be described as one gloriously beautiful spring day (although technically it wasn’t spring yet!). We travelled up to North Yorkshire, to Crathorne, pretty much right on the border with Durham County. It was the perfect day for Catherine and Chris to tie the knot, they couldn’t have wished for a more wonderful day. We arrived at the stunning Crathorne Hall Hotel a few hours before the wedding. We were doing a Same Day Edit, so we needed plenty of time to set up the edit suite and film the bride getting ready. Catherine was quite a nervous bride, but luckily at the same time, she was very excited and cheerful.
The ceremony took place at All Saints Church, just around the corner from the hall, with music provided by a string quartet and a lovely reading by the groom’s sister. After the ceremony, it was back to the Hall where the couple and their guests had exclusive of the hotel. The weather was so good that they even managed to have an outdoor reception (I think that’s a first for us for a March wedding). Throughout the day, we had loads of fun working together with Dirk Van Der Werff, a photographer from Hartlepool, with Dutch family roots, although he is through and through English.
In the evening, just before the first dance, we screened the Same Day Edit, this time on a big television in the bar area. As ever with Same Day Edits, it went down a storm, Catherine watched it 3 times in a row and as usual, plenty of the guests were in tears.
