WEVA Silver Creative Excellence Award for our Bridal Elegance

Quick newsflash!

Yesterday evening we were awarded our second Creative Excellence Award at WEVA in Orlando Florida! Last year we won a bronze award in the Short Form Wedding Film category, this year we were lucky enough to receive a silver award in the Bridal Spotlight category. I can’t begin to say how happy we are with this result!!! There were so many amazing videos in all the categories and to know that the judges consider one of our videos part of that elite bunch, well,… it’s surreal.

So if you are curious enough to find out what it takes to win a Silver CEA, then, check this out!

Also, this morning I delivered my seminar on Short Wedding Films here at the WEVA Expo. Lots of people turned up (and not just for the Belgian chocolate I brought along) including some videographers that I seriously look up to, like Jason Magbanua for example!!! The seminar went without any technical glitches, phew, and I received so much positive feedback. This trip is sooooo worth all the hassle we went through on Sunday to get here.

Tina and Joshua, an Irish escapade

Time for another full wedding on this blog, it’s been quite a while and I couldn’t wait to share this one, it’s been without doubt one of my favourite ones so far this year. It probably has something to do with the fact that this wedding meant that we finally got see a bit more of that beautiful island to the west of ours, yes, we were invited to film a wedding in Ireland.

Let me introduce Tina and Joshua to you. They met a few years back in Denver and for the moment Joshua laid his eyes on Tina, he was smitten! It wasn’t until 2 years later that their paths crossed again in Dublin and a nervous Joshua finally asked Tina out on a date. This date wasn’t a coffee at Starbucks or dinner and a movie. Joshua whisked Tina away for a week to a far away idyllic beach. How romantic is that?!

Back in May they tied the knot, surrounded by friends and family for all over the World. The venue for this celebration was the stunning Adare Manor Hotel. Tina wore a gorgeous and dreamy dress by Caroline Castigliano which she adorned with an eye-catching sparkly brooch; apparently Beyonce bought the same one. And then there were the shoes, Christian Louboutins, seriously striking! A fairytale carriage with six white horses took Tina from the Manor to the church across road. And although the weather didn’t always play nicely (there’s a reason Ireland is so green), it certainly didn’t spoil the day. There were some brilliant speeches; the best man’s speech was especially great, none of the usual jokes copied from the internet, just purely amusing and entertaining. And after a few hours of dancing, they all sang the night away down in the dungeon bar of the hotel to some traditional Irish folk singers. Seriously brilliant wedding!!!

The Wedding of Lauren & Nikki: Same Day Edit

2 Days ago we were filming a wedding in Barnsley, just up the road from us really. This was Lauren and Nikki’s wedding. Now Lauren was a very excited bride, she’s been planning for ages and the video was one of the most important parts of the wedding for her (and her mum). The day started off at her parent’s house, it was a pretty emotional morning with tears from nearly everybody. Lauren’s wedding dress was a closely guarded secret, not even the bridesmaids were allowed to see it before she had it on. I, on the other hand, had an all access pass and my first reaction to seeing that dress was “WOW”. It was a proper fairytale princess dress by Dizzie Lizzie and it suited Lauren perfectly!
Then it was off to the church at Silkstone for the ceremony where Nikki was eagerly awaiting his bride. After the ceremony, Lauren and Nikki went off for a short photo shoot at a nearby lake. Future Earth Photography headed by David Muffit was in charge of the wedding photography, it was a pleasure to work alongside them. After the shoot, we headed back to the parent’s house for the drinks reception in their gorgeous garden. They had a beautiful marquee at the back of the garden for the wedding breakfast (well, technically, that was the bride’s grandma’s garden). Then in the evening, it was off to the nearby Blue Bell Inn for the evening party and this is where we showed their Same Day Edit. And now, you can see it too (or again)!

The Wedding of Clare and Matthew

Just over a week ago, we had the pleasure of working together with the planners of Paige Events at Clare and Matthew’s wedding. After their Catholic ceremony, a vintage Volkswagen campervan transported them to their next location. They had chosen the gorgeous setting of Walton Hall in Wellesbourne as the backdrop for their reception. Their international guest list was lucky enough to enjoy a wonderful English summer’s day in these stunning surroundings. Paige events didn’t just dress the room of the wedding breakfast, but also tranformed the room of the evening celebrations with an Arabic theme.
I hope you will enjoy the trailer:

On a separate note, I’m sure many of you have heard Sylvia will be speaking at the WEVA expo this year. After receiving a CEA Award for one of our Short-Form weddings, it seemed the perfect subject to talk about. Under the title ‘Anatomy of a Short Form’, Sylvia will talk about our approach to this format, which we introduced to our market a few years ago. As a way to promote the seminar, Sylvia put a little clip together highlighting our ‘Belgian heritage’ and included some rarely seen footage of the both of us.

A winter wonderland at Hazlewood Castle

My apologies for the long absence! I can’t believe how busy we’ve been the past few weeks, and it isn’t going to get any quieter any time soon!

This time last week we were filming a wedding near Florence in Italy. It was a truly gorgeous sunny day, but a gorgeous sunny day in Tuscany means heat, lots of heat. Now I know the weather got pretty hot here in the UK too, but add about another 10°C to those temperatures and you can start to get an idea of what we were going through. Yes, we were melting, but having lots of fun nonetheless.

In a failed attempt to try to cool down somewhat, I thought back to the coldest wedding we’ve ever filmed, which happened to be last winter. It was a freezing cold snowy day, just before Christmas, the day that Carole & Neil got married at Hazlewood Castle in North Yorkshire. Despite the coldness, it was actually a really beautiful day, seeing the grounds of the castle covered in snow, a true winter wonderland right out of a fairytale. Carole and Neil had hoped for a “white” wedding day and that’s exactly what they got. And just in case there wouldn’t have been any real snow, they provided a stylish winter theme filled with details of snow flakes. Photographers for the day were Sharon and Andy from FNS Weddings, you can see a few photos from Carole and Neil’s wedding on their blog too.

As ever, I hope you enjoy this clip and if you do, we’d love it if you would leave us a comment (or share this on your Facebook or Twitter account)

Maria & Andrew

Let me introduce to you Maria and Andrew. They got married last year at the Tithe Barn near Petersfield in Hampshire. We knew in advance it was going to be a really great day: lovely couple, lovely venue and the most marvellous photographer ever! Yes, I am of course talking about Rob from Shooting Hip! And this time we finally got to meet his wonderboy assistant, Darren. Working with Rob (and Darren) is always a joy, nice and easy going. Nothing could spoil this wedding day and nothing did, even the weather was behaving nicely.

Before the wedding Maria always thought she would get a fairly simple dress, nothing too fancy or girly, she considered herself as quite the tomboy, and then she fell in love with THE dress. Nothing simple about it, it even had beading and sparkles… gone was the tomboy Maria look, enter Princess Maria, looking stunning!

In the evening they also had one really cool and fabulous band, Madhen. Do look up them up if you are looking for a band for your wedding, they did put on quite the show.

So without further ado, here are the Highlights to Maria and Andrew’s wedding!

Hannah & David at St Audries Park, Somerset

Back in September last year we filmed Hannah and David’s wedding at St Audries Park in Somerset, a few days after the wedding we shared their Same Day Edit with you. Now it’s time to share a bit more from their wedding film.
I know I usually only tend to share the highlights to our wedding films, but in this case I also really want share the bridal prep as well. Why? Well, simply because it’s one of my favourite bridal preps of the past year. Yes, it probably has something to do with Hannah’s fabulous Christian Louboutin wedding shoes, but it was mainly due to the delightfully relaxed atmosphere of the whole morning which I hope is reflected in the video. It was just pure loveliness.

And if you’d like to know how their perfect day continued, then you can always check out their highlights too. You’ll see all the splendour of their wedding day, including the fun provided by the croquet set, the superb cocktail bar during the drinks reception (Hannah and David had each chosen a special cocktail to serve to their guests) and the spectacular fireworks display in the evening.
And a big thank you to John De Rienzo from De Rienzo Films for being our third shooter that day; it really made my job of putting the Same Day Edit together a whole lot less stressful!

As ever, we really appreciate the comments you leave us on this blog, they really make our day, so go on: “Make my day!”.

The Happiest Wedding of them all

The wedding I’m sharing with you today already had a small introduction back in November, it’s Bisola and Temitope’s wedding. They got married back in July last year in Bristol and their wedding was definitely one of the highlights of last year. Why? Well, it’s not every day that you come across such genuinely nice and friendly people, not just Bisola and Temitope, but all their family and friends. And it’s not every day that you see such enthusiasm throughout the whole wedding day, especially during the ceremony. Most ceremonies are very solemn, formal and serious occasions, at this wedding the whole ceremony was a celebration of their love, we hadn’t experienced anything quite like this wedding. The whole congregation was so thrilled and overjoyed when Bisola and Temitope were declared husband and wife, the excitement levels went through the roof! It was quite the contagious atmosphere. And the party atmosphere certainly didn’t stop there. After a trip to the park for the photo shoot with the bridal party, the fun continued at Marriott Hotel in the centre of Bristol. In the evening Bisola and Temitope along with the bridal party changed from their formal wedding outfits into traditional African dress and danced the night away. This wedding is going into our books as one of the most fun weddings we’ve ever been a part of! I hope the joy and happiness of this wedding comes across in their highlights clip and if it does, I’m certain it will brighten up your day.
