Gavin & Emma

June 22nd, 2008 by Sylvia

Time to share a bit more of our wedding videos again!

This one is actually from quite a while ago now but I just haven’t managed to get it up on the blog yet. This was the first wedding we filmed in and edited in HD, it took us a while to get used to the editing workflow but we loved the result. The clips for the blog have been reduced though, but they still look great.

Anyway, this is Gavin & Emma’s wedding. You may recognise the location, Hassop Hall, from a previous blog entry (Katy & Robert’s wedding). I can’t help but share 2 clips of their video, the highlights and the photo shoot, the latter because we just had so much fun with the photographers from Class 1 Weddings.

The Highlights

and just for the record, Emma did actually get that motorcycle as a surprise wedding present from Gavin!

30-something

June 8th, 2008 by Sylvia

Well, it was inevitable, I am now officially part of the 30-something club. So far, no complaints! The past 2 weeks have been thoroughly enjoyable, spending our time at Walt Disney World in sunny Florida. OK, so maybe the heat and the humidity was a bit too much for my comfort, but boy did we have fun!!!

Really, I can’t recommend this place highly enough. So it is a bit cheesy, all a bit fake, claiming to be the happiest place on earth, … but it works, you just can’t help but be happy when you’re there. Disney manages to suppress the cynic and sarcast in me and bring out a more fluffier side and somehow I let them get away with it ;-)

We went to Disney World 2 years ago for Niels’ 30th birthday too, but this time we stayed at Disney hotel so we’d have the Disney magic 24/7. We stayed at the Port Orleans Riverside, which had a theme of the Mississippi-bayou area of the Old South, on one side there are plantation-style mansions (think Gone with the Wind), the other side is a bit more quaint with smaller rustic, weathered-wood buildings with tin roofs. The whole resort is immaculately maintained, luscious gardening, it is simply stunning. Ideal for a romantic evening walk (if you can still manage to move your feet after a day in the parks!). There’s also plenty of wildlife around: ducks, squirrels, rabbits, cute tiny lizards and one freaky turtle. Really freaky turtle! It seems that a lizard and a turtle had a few too many margaritas one night and this is the result:

Freaky Turtle

So we did spent just about all our time at the theme parks, just couldn’t get enough of it, especially the new ride they have the Hollywood Studios: Toy Story Mania. We went again and again and again and again and again and then a few more times. We managed to get quite good at it. Another fun thing was having breakfast and dinner with some of the Disney cast, although Niels does seem a bit spooked…

One of the best things at Disney are the fireworks, every single evening. I just love fireworks and the ones at Disney are without doubt the best I’ve ever seen (I’ll have to share those when I get round to editing our vacation video, this might take a while though, there are a few other videos that I have to finish first).

We did venture away from the theme parks and Orlando on Saturday 31 May. We took a trip just over an hour’s drive east from Orlando to Titusville. We soon noticed we weren’t the only people who decided to spend the afternoon there. We managed to find a nice parking spot and spent the next 2 hours in the blistering heat, it was horrible. But then at 5.02pm we watched a short 2 minute spectacle across the water. As soon as it was over we tried to head back to Orlando, however, several thousands others tried to do just that too and the result was a 3 hour traffic jam… Oh well, it was all worth it just to see this:

Space Shuttle Launch

Yup, we went to see the space shuttle Discovery launch. There won’t be many more of these as they are retiring the space shuttle. We didn’t manage to escape Disney though as Buzz Lightyear was one the passengers!

So now we’re back, back behind my computer, ready to start editing again and dreaming of our next trip to Walt Disney World…

Wedding Trailer for Debbie & Matt

May 21st, 2008 by Sylvia

We’re on holiday from today, off to Disney World in Florida. This should provide for a painless transition from my twenties to my thirties… Yes, my 30th birthday is coming up and what better way to celebrate it than by being a kid again?

Before we jet off, I just wanted to add a little trailer we made for Debbie & Matt. I had hoped to finish their DVD before we left, but unfortunately didn’t quite manage. So here’s something to keep them entertained until we get back.

So to anyone trying to contact us, you probably won’t get a reply until 9 June, sorry!

Oops - Part II: Trash The Dress

May 11th, 2008 by Sylvia

Well, it wasn’t really an “oops” it was fully intentional ;-)

We had been playing with the idea of doing a Trash the Dress for a while now and got the opportunity to do one back in Belgium. Not one for missing out on opportunities, so we went off last weekend and had loads of fun trashing that dress. This actually turned out to be more difficult than expected as this dress just didn’t want to get dirty: grass didn’t stain it, dirt and mud didn’t stick to it, it wasn’t until we submerged in a muddy pond that it finally got that trashed look.

If you want to view this clip in HD, just click here (your computer does need to be powerful enough to be able to play it properly)

Found on Ebay

April 28th, 2008 by Sylvia

Back in August 2006, Gemma and Christopher got married in the Lake District. A few months after their wedding, Gemma decided to sell her petticoat on Ebay. To make her listing a bit more attractive, Gemma put in a link to her wedding highlights clip. This grabbed the attention of Kelly, who promptly bought the petticoat. This wasn’t the only thing though Gemma managed to sell that day, she also sold the idea of getting a wedding video, more specifically, our wedding videos.

The 24th of August was Kelly and Stafford big day. They spent the whole day and most of the evening before the wedding decorating the hall and putting up the bouncy castles. Those bouncy castles, courtesy of Kelly & Stafford’s own company Shootinstar Party Hire, proved to be an excellent source of fun for the little ones and even for the not so little ones. The music of the highlights is the ever popular True Companion by Mark Cohn… I wonder where they got the idea for that one ;-)

Caroline & Mike’s Wedding Day

April 16th, 2008 by Sylvia

Caroline and Mike celebrated their 11th anniversary of being together yesterday. To mark the occassion in style they decided to do so by getting married at Adlington Hall. We absolutely love this couple, they are so much fun and we get on with them like a house on fire.

We had a great time. On our recommendation they also booked our favourite photographer, Rob, who is a joy to work with. We also felt very privileged to have Alex Hill (from Elysium Productions in California) joining us to film with us.

All in all, pretty much a perfect day!

Autumn Colours

April 8th, 2008 by Sylvia

Autumn is without doubt my favourite season and one of the things I love most about it are the colours. A few years ago, we were in New England at the end of October, I just kept being amazed by how lovely all the trees looked, really picture perfect. Then again, around here in Yorkshire and the Peak District, we can’t really complain!

Last November we filmed Nicola & Jason’s wedding on a most beautiful autumn day. They had their ceremony at Barlborough church and the reception at Ringwood Hall Hotel in Chesterfield. I just wanted to share the photo shoot part of the wedding to show off the gorgeous autumn colours off their day.

Most impressive first dance

April 1st, 2008 by Sylvia

This has to be the most amazing first dance we’ve ever witnessed. Claire & Brian took some dance lessons and the result brought the house down, they were even asked for a repeat performance. I just had to share this with you and hope it might give you some inspiration.
